I don´t like it so much on bass instruments (bass and BD) because for my taste it has the tendency to make them sound thin. When an LA-2A is set for 2 or 3dB of compression on a vocal with the emphasis control turned towards flat, the compressor will sometimes grab the vocal causing loud or powerful syllables to get yanked down in level. And VST plugins, for Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic, Ableton Live and other popular audio hosts. Used them ever since because I love them. Mastering engineer F Tischmeyer recommended them once to me and I got the Universal Audio ones (with the UAD Card).
